Abstract
In architectural presentations, floor plans serve not only as technical communication tools but also as
visual media that influence the viewer. The visual appearance of floor plans needs to be aesthetically
pleasing to engage the reader and facilitate understanding. The inclusion of human figures is often
perceived as enhancing the aesthetic value of floor plans. This study aims to provide insights into basic
strategies and steps for effectively incorporating human figures to optimize the aesthetics of floor plan
visuals. The research employs multistage sampling for data collection and causal descriptive analysis for
data processing. Two theories underpin this study: the theory of floor plan functionality and Gestalt
visual perception theory. Using Gestalt visual perception theory, various aesthetic issues related to the
inclusion of human figures are explored in depth. The study identifies four key aspects that prevent
human figures from fully optimizing the aesthetics of floor plans. These four aspects form the basis for
the strategies developed by the researchers. The principles of visual perception from Gestalt theory are
used as guidelines for positioning, grouping, the number of figures, as well as the poses and activities
of human figures in floor plans. The results of this study reveal seven sequential steps that designers
should follow to effectively incorporate human figures into floor plans.
